An aspiring artist, Avin has been singing for 7 years now and also started to record music. One of her musical inspirations were the powerful actors at Broadway in New York and finds the natural beauty and diverse population to be two of Canada’s most interesting features. For the audition, Avin performed “The Writing’s on the Wall” by Sam Smith.

A pop and R&B singer, Connor has performed at numerous fundraisers and events not just in the Lower Mainland but New York and LA as well. Demi Lovato is an inspiration for her continued strength through struggles and he is also inspired by the individual identities Canada fosters. For the audition, Connor performed “Rise Up” by Andra Day.

An accomplished musician, Denico plays not only the piano but the guitar, clarinet and ukulele as well. Often collaborating with other musicians, composers and producers, he has already released a song called “5 FORTY 5” and plans to release an album soon. His audition video included “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” by D’Angelo and “Suit & Tie” by Justin Timberlake.

An avid punk and rock fan, Eagle has grown up with the two genres and honed his singing and guitar skills to match his idols. He finds the beautiful scenery one of Canada’s best aspects. For the audition, Eagle performed “Come On Everybody” by Eddie Cochran.

No stranger to talent shows, Elias has been singing since childhood and continues to do so today. He is part of the Vancouver College Choir and participates in Theatre as well. In addition to many talent shows, Elias also performs at senior residences. For his audition video, Elias performed “ Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur.

Inspired by ‘The Sound of Music’, Jaenna began singing then songwriting and guitar playing early on. Her favourite genre is acoustic/indie pop and she’s currently listening to “Most Girls” by Hailee Steinfield, one of her idols, for its themes of acceptance and female empowerment. For her video audition, she sang and played guitar to her original song “Simply Me”.

Starting secondary school soon, Kiley has practicing music since she was 5 years old. Originally starting out with piano and now playing the flute, Kiley has enjoyed singing throughout her musical career. She is currently listening to pop and rap songs such as “Moonlight”. For the audition, Kiley performed “Stiches” by Shawn Mendes.

A lover of several music genres, Seven has been singing since he was eleven. His favourite artist is the late Michael Jackson, the King of Pop though his favourite genre is R&B for its vibes. He wants to bring energy to the stage to get the audience both excited and entertained. For the audition, Seven sang and played the keyboard to “Only One” by Kanye West.

A veteran Contestant, Anna has already participated in the TD Young Star Challenge and International Village Children’s Talent Contest, the latter which brought her closer to music. She enjoys listening to the songs on the radio and the PNE is her favourite place in all of Canada. For the audition, Anna performed “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion in English and French.

Enjoying music since she was born, Isabella is participating in the Showdown after hearing about it at her school. Her favourite place in all of Canada is our local Canada Place and the songs she is currently listening to includes “Call Me Maybe”, “Diamonds” and “Less Lonely”. For the audition, Isabella performed “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

A country music lover, Jennifer loves listening to it due to it’s unique style and is special to her. Performing and listening to music is a fun experience for her. She finds the most interesting thing about Canada to be the multiculturalism here. For the audition, Jennifer performed “I Really Like You” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

A singer and pianist, Niki has been interested in music since she was young due to her dad singing her to sleep. One of her favourites things to listen to now are Disney musicals for their characters and beautiful performances. Also beautiful to her is the natural scenery of Canada. For the audition, Niki sang and played the keyboard to “Better than a Hallelujah” by Amy Grant.

A Vancouverite, Rachel is most interested in the genres of pop and R&B though her audition shows her ability to perform other genres. Singing at parties and at home brought Rachel to be more interested in music. For the audition, Rachel sang “No Man of Mine” by Shania Twain.

The youngest contestant, Silvia enjoys singing primarily with friends and family, including her sister Jennifer who is another contestant. She enjoys the friends she has made in Canada and is open to any music they want to sing. For the audition, Silvia performed “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

A contestant that doesn’t need the mic, Viola enjoys the genre of Classical music the most. Another thing she enjoys is the food that she can find in Canada. For the audition, Viola performed “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban Unfortunately this video is shorter due to our camera running out of battery during the audition.
