Kung Hei Fat Choi! Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival, one of the most important celebrations in the Chinese community. It is to welcome the new, bringing good luck and hope for the coming year.

Chinese New Year is usually celebrated for the first 15 days of the Lunar January. This coming New Year is the Year of the Rooster, and will be on Jan. 28, 2017. Continuing an age-old Chinese tradition, this festivity is celebrated with family, friends, and the community.

This year, we will be joining the Spring Festival Parade together with the Vancouver Chinatown Merchants Association on January 29, starting at 11:00AM. There will also be an array of fun and educating activities celebrating the Lunar New Year at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens, the Cultural Centre and its Museum, the Chinatown Plaza and many more. The local and traditional Chinese stores also have a wide selection of festive treats and decorations!
So come on down to celebrate and enjoy the festivities together with us and discover the hidden treasures found only in Vancouver Chinatown!

We also have a growing variety of shops serving delicious food, drinks, and snacks made fresh from your every order. Check out the pdf link below for a list of all the amazing eats you can discover with just a bit more of info on the Lunar New Year.
