Vancouver, B.C.— TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival is celebrating two decades of culture, history, and community.
Taking place in Vancouver’s Chinatown on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17, 2022, this free, family-friendly event reflects the multicultural vibrancy of the neighbourhood with an exciting variety of food vendors, live entertainment, artisan crafts, games, and more. There is truly something for everyone at the TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival, where visitors can discover all the wonders it has to offer.
The opening ceremonies features Lion Dances—a traditional performance to bring good fortune and prosperity— and the festival weekend will be filled with fun daytime activities like an augmented reality scavenger hunt featuring Chinatown’s beloved “Van Van'' mascot via the Visit Chinatown app, and a giant Mahjong tile game (lessons are on hand for those who don’t know how to play or need a refresher). Evening events include a salsa dancing social, family movie night showing of Kung Fu Panda 2, and an all-Asian comedy show.
Limited 20th Anniversary Special Access Passes, giving festival-goers exclusive bonuses like free admission to select attractions, food specials, extra goodies and a tote bag, are available to buy on the website.
TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival marks the much-anticipated return to in-person events in an open-air, safe, and inclusive environment. It’s also a great way to explore the historic neighbourhood: within just a few blocks, you can find everything from boutiques and restaurants to live music venues and legacy businesses.
Both BC Place and Science World will be illuminated in red on July 16 and 17 to honour TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival and its milestone 20th anniversary. Come discover the wonders of Chinatown as the city lights up in celebration!
